Bike to Work Challenge

Each year, over 1,800 companies take part in Bike to Work, a campaign launched by PRO VELO Switzerland. This turnkey initiative, focused on employee health promotion, mobilizes approximately 54,000 participants who each commit to cycling to work during the months of May and/or June.

More modern than ever, bicycles are the perfect means to be active during one’s daily commute, whether on more traditional two-wheeled configurations, to foldable versions or even electric models. Did you know that one in every two employees travels less than 5km to reach their workplace?

Developing and promoting everyday cycling is one of the key strategic pillars established by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), which just recently published its Cycling for All Manifesto.

Lausanne Olympic Capital and its 57 international sports organizations is the ideal candidate to celebrate the bicycle’s 200th anniversary in 2017 and its dual role as both a sport and active mode of transport. That said, we call upon all international sport organizations in the canton of Vaud to participate in the Bike to Work challenge with us!

The organisations based within the Maison du Sport International may benefit from the grouped registration for the MSI by contacting Danielle Honegger msi@lausanne.ch by April 30th
.

You will then have until May 31st to form teams of four (4) people who commit to cycling to work at least 50% of all working days in June, in order to be eligible to win prizes offered by PRO VELO Switzerland.

A ranking list between all participating federations will then be established to reward the teams which have completed the highest number of kilometres during the month of June.
